Pieter Geldenhuys, Our formulating Pharmacist has competed in many categories of sport from an early age. These include rugby, cricket, long distance running and cycling. During this time, he realized the importance of endurance, energy and muscle recovery. He has personally competed in numerous races, from running the Comrades and the 2- oceans marathons, to participating in the 94.7 and Magoebaskloof cycle races. He also embodies the thrill of mountain climbing and has completed an 80km Kilimanjaro expedition and summited mount Mera in the Himalayas, Mount Mckinley in North America, Mont Blanc in the Alps and even climbed the highest mountains in Hawaii. This indomitable, Activ explorer even undertook the 5 peaks in 7 days Mont Rosa Massif Italian Alps expedition. AND he played an active role in the Alaskan Iditarod Trail Sled Dog race on more than one occasion – an awesome adventure for ANY Activ explorer. His love for exploring, discovering and people, prompted him to start coaching and help others to achieve their goals.
During his more than a decade of athletics coaching his teams garnered more than 1200 medals between them. And a few of his athletes achieved international winner status. He was also the founder of the FAR NORTH Development committee to promote sport, particularly athletics, at grass roots level in the Northern Province. Between 1990 and 2000 he served on the board of the sports committee of Tzaneen where he designed and constructed a national cross-country track along the Letaba River near Tzaneen, commissioned by the Tzaneen sports council. In addition to all these Activ achievements in his life, He holds a degree in Pharmacy and served as a trusted Pharmacist in multiple roles. His intensive research, knowledge of formulations and development of drug and supplement compositions, inspired him to get involved with a drug addiction organization since 1997, where he held seminars and helped young people deal with the reality of addiction and drug misuse. Pieter Geldenhuys is passionate about helping people to realize their best sporting and Activ Explorer achievements WITHOUT the use of drugs or restricted substances!
